Initial Consult
In our initial consultation, we will take the time to get to know each other and discuss your unique experiences and challenges. We will talk about confidentiality and its importance within our sessions, as well as the limits to confidentiality. We will talk about informed consent and what it means. This session will be an opportunity for you to share concerns and goals for counselling as well as to have any questions you may have about counselling answered while I gather important background information. Together, we will establish a trusting and respectful therapeutic relationship, ensuring you feel comfortable and understood. By the end of this session, we will outline a preliminary plan for your counselling journey if you choose to continue with sessions.
Treatment
During treatment sessions, we will work collaboratively to explore issues you are facing and develop strategies to address them. I will utilize various evidence-based therapeutic modalities tailored to your needs, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Each session will involve open dialogue, skill-building exercises, and guided reflections to help you gain insights and foster personal growth. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you can feel safe to express yourself and navigate your emotions.
Homework
To reinforce what we discuss in sessions and facilitate ongoing growth, I may assign relevant homework or exercises tailored to your specific goals. This may include journaling prompts, mindfulness practices, or communication strategies to implement in your daily life. Homework is designed to encourage self-reflection, deepen your understanding of the concepts we cover, and promote active engagement in your healing process. We will review your experiences with the homework in our subsequent sessions, allowing us to adjust our approach as needed and celebrate your progress.
